Lush Spot Treatments | Review

I've always heard fantastic things about the natural skin care store, LUSH, but i've never previously dared to venture further than the occasional shower gel or bath bomb. However, after reading many positive reviews by one of my favourite beauty bloggers, Zoe (aka Zoella), backed up by the customer comments on the website, I decided to give it a go.

My skin has broken out A LOT recently and it's making me feel utterly rubbish. After browsing the 'Spot Treatments' section of their website, I plumped for a small bottle of Tea Tree Toner Water and a Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask with rather high expectations.

Upon ordering I was told to expect my delivery within 7 days which was slightly disheartening as I was desperate to clear up my skin quickly. Despite this, less than 48 hours later, I received my little Lush box in the post which was a delightful surprise. I was also pleasantly surprised to find two free tester samples of Coolaulin Conditioner popped in amongst the eco friendly packaging, nice once Lush!

The Tea Tree Toner Water cost me a very reasonable £3.95. As directed, I spritzed it evenly over my face and have continued to do so every day since. Initially, the natural scent is a bit overpowering, but only for 30 seconds or so after which time it dries without leaving the smell of antiseptic lingering on your skin. So far I've only been using this product for five days yet already I am noticing results. My face now feels fresher and although my spots haven't fully cleared, the redness has cleared meaning they are far less noticeable.

The Cosmetic Warrior Fresh Face Mask came in at £5.95 which I feel is quite extravagant considering it has a shelf life of only 3 weeks. Saying this, Lush offers a free Fresh Face Mask in exchange for 5 empty pots returned which is excellent if you're going to buy them anyway. The product is antibacterial and contains tea tree oil and garlic so unsurprisingly, it also has a rather overpowering scent for the recommended 10 minute application. However, i'd argue it's worth putting up with if the mask gives results. Admittedly, I've only used this once so far but again I found the unsightly red swelling of spots was immediately soothed.

I absolutely love free samples! I really appreciate being able to try before I buy a full bottle of product, especially considering the fairly high prices for larger bottles in Lush. The smell is more of an earthy coconut than the typical sickly sweet coconut you get from a lot of products which I think is an interesting change. I have very thin hair which means conditioning often leaves it oily and limp. In light of this, I found the Coolaulin Conditioner too heavy for my hair and gave the second sample to my sister who has thick, curly hair and loved it! If you have that sort of hair we'd definitely recommend the product but if you have thinner hair like me, steer well clear.

Hopefully reading this will help you out when trying to choose between the vast amount of products Lush have to offer. Overall, I'm impressed with the service as well as the products. I'll definitely be back to try out some others so i'll let you know how it goes.

Christmas Wishlist

It's the first of December and if you ask me, you're never too old for an advent calendar. What better way to wake up than with a little chocolate boost? Okay so i'm slightly overexcited to begin poking open the little doors but the countdown to Christmas is by far the best part of the year! I absolutely love all the beautiful decorations and lights and songs and FOOD. I've had to draw a line at stuffing my list up the chimney for Santa, so I've decided to share my wishlist with you instead. I don't know about you, but I like reading this sort of post to get gift ideas other than the usual Superdrug gift sets and chocolate.

Since Kate Middleton was spotted wearing this dress, it's become THE piece of the season. It's so simple yet so classy. I've been so close to buying it myself for the last month or so but sadly, the student life doesn't allow for £46 on a dress. Sigh. This is definitely top of my list this year, i'd be happy with this and nothing else!

I am a self confessed Vansaholic and I don't wear many other shoes, especially for college as I have quite a long walk. I already have a few other colours and I wear them with everything but I feel a black pair would look nicer with some outfits.

You might remember me mentioning this product in my Inside My Makeup Bag post earlier this year. Sadly my original one got lost in a club (i'm still grieving) and I'm desperate for a replacement. Chubby Sticks are really hydrating and come in gorgeous colours, my first one was pink but this time i'd like to try a redder shade. I'm a bit of a hopeless case when it comes to lipstick but this is one of the few products i've found to be really wearable and not too overwhelming against my pale skin.

As someone who suffers from horribly oily skin, I'm always on the look out for a miracle makeup product to help me out. Recently I had a free Bare Minerals consultation in Boots and the lovely lady who worked at the stand tried out some pieces from the starter kit on me. I was really impressed with how natural yet full the coverage was! It's quite a pricey brand but it's supposedly healthy on the skin and natural and all that. Plus, the starter kit includes primer, foundation, blusher, mineral veil (basically setting powder) and three brushes which works out at a fairly reasonable price.

The tartan trend has gone crazy this winter and I've unashamedly jumped right on the bandwagon. I already have a tartan print dress which i love love love but I think the scarfs are really cute so i'm after one of those too! I really like this one I found on Pinterest and Urban Outfitters have some pretty snazzy ones as well.

This is a bit of a random addition to a beauty and fashion wishlist but hey, my phone has too look fashionable too, right? I've been after a Sighh phone case for such a long time and i've finally picked out my favourite. I love the Bitchin' Bubble case because it sums me up so well, who could resist one of these? Sighh have the prettiest cases ever so it's definitely worth a look on the website if you're after something a bit different.

That's all for now ladies (or men who knows) so if you're in a bit of a pickle thinking of gift ideas, I'd recommend all of these beauties.

November Favourites

This month's favourites are all a bit random but hey, who doesn't love a tip off on a great purchase?

Now this has to be one of my favourite things not only this month, but of all time. I couldn't resist the miniature cuteness when I came across this pretty little espresso cup. I mean come on, it's the same length as my little finger! Since I don't like espresso, I had the idea of using it as a candle holder. The tester size Yankee Candle fits perfectly and I think it looks fabulously quirky. I'm using the Strawberry one here - delicious!

Aside from Grimmy, The Live Lounge is the main reason I listen to Radio 1. After falling in love with Arctic Monkeys' cover of Drake's Hold On, this album was top of my list on pay day. For someone who's not really into chart music, I'm surprised how much I've enjoyed listening to the covers. One of my favourites is Daughter's stunning cover of Get Lucky, originally by Daft Punk.

I've been longing for a pair of Timberlands for so long but I've always been put off by the price tag, usually around £150-£200 brand new. So I turned to ebay and found a used pair, still in excellent condition, for £70. Still pricey I know but they're so hard wearing they'll last me forever. Warning: be sure to wear them in properly before attempting walking too far from home, I made this mistake and they shredded my heels to pieces! Happily, they're now the comfiest shoes I own, I love them!

That's it for this month, prepare for an overload of Christmas goodies next time.

Song of The Month | November

This month I've been enjoying Ellie Goulding's track Explosions, from her late 2012 album Halcyon. Most of you are probably over this hype by now but I'm still not over what a beautiful song it is. Her voice is so pure and sweet that the lyrics make me feel anger towards whoever inspired the song by hurting her. If you need a good cry, this song will make you feel less alone. If someone as gorgeous as Ellie feels down sometimes then the rest of us stand no chance! It honestly gives me shivers.

Review: Fudge Urban Texture Blaster

As usual, I popped to Superdrug with the intention of purchasing just a can of deodorant. Of course I ended up spending over £15.

As you may have noticed, I have super flat, flyaway hair. Sigh. I had a little (okay I was was there for ages) browse through the hair product section in search of a product to liven up my hair a bit. Having never tried out the brand Fudge Urban before, I took a chance and picked up a can of their promising looking Urban Texture Blaster (£6.99).

Halloween Lookbook

Halloween is fast approaching so you have to go all out and dress up, right? Wrong. You can still have fun with Halloween looks without splashing out on a crazy costume you'll never wear again. The high street has exploded with spooky prints and colours that you can work into a boring outfit. After scouring social media and magazines, I've picked out some of my favourite pieces for you.

First up, a simple bat print tee (HERE) from ASOS. This is perfect if you're only looking to add a hint of Halloween in your wardrobe. You could definitely get away with wearing this all year round with a skater skirt, patterned tights and buckled ankle boots to give a casual outfit an edgier look.

Every girl needs a little black dress (if you'll excuse the cliche) so why not vamp it up by opting for a cobweb style lace design? Classic and chic, there are so many flattering choices to suit all body shapes such as this elegant piece (HERE) from Boohoo. Perfect for a night out or pair with cute cat ears and whiskers for an easy costume idea.
If you're a little more adventurous with fashion, try a pair of pumpkin orange jeans. This pair from ASOS (HERE) can be elegantly styled with a simple black or white shirt and heels for an effortlessly cool daytime look, popular with the likes of celebs such as Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria.

As the weather's getting colder, waterproof boots are an absolute essential to keep you dancing through the winter. For an edgy look go for a sturdy pair of Doc Martens (HERE). Try a ghostly white teamed with black shorts and tights and create a rock chic look.

The easiest way to add a bit of spook to your outfit is to accessorize. Since the release of the iconic Alexander McQueen piece, skull print scarfs are a massively popular trend. This design, again from ASOS (HERE) is a much cheaper alternative to add a little extra statement to your outfit.

Polish up your look with a pop of colour on your nails. If you're creative with a nail pen, try some of these spooky ideas.

October Favourites

I can't believe it's already November, where did October go? Did it even happen? Where has 2013 gone? Is this an existential crisis? I'd better get on with the post before December 2072 arrives!

So over the last month i've acquired two new pieces of fashion jewellery featuring pearl designs (all fake obviously do I look like the sort of person with money to spare on real gold and pearls?). The first is a ring I got from Miss Selfridge (£6) and the second a bracelet my boyfriend bought for me from one of my favourite websites, Etsy. I've been wearing both a lot as I feel I need a bit of girly elegance in my boringish outfits. If you saw my last favourites post you may notice a theme occuring with harry potter related jewellery!

I was introduced to my next favourite by other beauty bloggers. I'll let you take a moment to absorb the prettiness of it... Basically it's an app called CocoPPa which lets you download shortcuts to your smartphone apps. There are lots of different designs to choose from to style up your homescreen to look something like this. You can find this on the App Store, Google Play or Android Market and it's absolutely free!

In my ongoing battle against my skin, I'm constantly on the hunt for a product that will actually help me. This month I bought the new L'Oreal Skin Perfection Purifying Gel Wash (£4.49) with fading hope. It could be a placebo effect, but I'm pretty sure it's making a difference to my spots, the unlucky few who get to see me bare face have also noticed the difference - which is excellent! I'll definitely be using this again. *Tip - I've recently discovered Calamine lotion works wonders on soothing reddish acne scars to reduce uneven complexion*

I wrote this post before going to bed and so didn't have time to paint my nails for a photo so this photo is courtesy of  Kerruticles.com

Another beauty pick is the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint (£2.79) in shade Passion Fruit. I love love love this range because they're so shiny they're practically reflective. The pigment is very strong with only one coat (although two coats are needed for staying power) and the Passion Fruit colour is a gorgeous corally orangey red, perfect for brightening up a dull misty morning.

One last thing I've been loving in October is an old school classic - Refreshers! I have no will power at all and got through maybe ten sweets at a time after realising they'd been released in these huge tubes for Christmas *hint hint*. YUM.

That's about it for my slightly random selections of October favourites, sorry I've not had many but i'm trying to cut back on mindless spending as I'm saving for driving lessons! Do comment below so I can have a nosey into what everyone else has been enjoying this month. :)

Song Of The Month | October

My favourite song this month comes from an artist relatively new to the UK, Lorde. Unless you've been in hibernation lately, you're probably familiar with her debut single, Royals. Despite looking about twenty six, she's actually only sixteen. Even more impressively, Lorde wrote the lyrics herself. This gives me a huge sense of failure as i'm seventeen and my closest achievement to date is receiving a smiley face sticker in year two for a stick people drawing of the royal family, *sigh*.

She has such a unique vocal that seems to appeal to a variety of music tastes. Not only is the tune both catchy and calming, the lyricism is fantastically truthful and down to earth. An unusual topic for a song, she sings about the unnecessary extravagant lifestyle of modern celebrities. Let's just hope she stays true to herself and doesn't do a Miley Cyrus.

Have a listen here if you haven't already.

Being Seduced By Alex Turner | AM Review

F

For some years now I've been a huge Arctic Monkeys fan. In early September this year, they released a new album simply titled, AM. I've unashamedly not done a lot with my life other than listen to it solidly for the last two months.

From the first listen, Do I Wanna Know has been my definite favourite track because Alex Turner's voice is even more seductively moody than usual and his lyricism is sublime. The riff is a close rival to those in older songs such as I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor and makes me want to move to Sheffield, wear copious amounts of leather, learn guitar and be cool (something i've sadly not yet achieved).

I really cannot fault the album and I'm so happy R U Mine is included because that has of course been one of my favourite ever songs since its release early last year. I recommend Snap Out Of It if you're having a bit of a down day because if a cheeky portion of apologetic Alex Turner doesn't make you smile, nothing will. Also worth a mention are Why'd You Only Call Me When You're High, Arabella and Knee Socks - all perfection! For a change, the whole album has a fairly continuous tone and the transition between songs is deliciously smooth. Dare I suggest that AM is the first Arctic Monkeys album where not a single track lets them down? If you've not yet bothered to listen to the whole album (seriously what have you been doing?) you should probably do so immediately, you owe it to your ears.

While i'm here, I can't help but express how utterly gorgeous Arctic Monkeys' cover of Drake's Hold On We're Going Home in the Radio 1 Live Lounge was. I didn't expect much from it as I'm really not into Drake at all. However, Alex Turner made it sound like some sort of beautifully composed piece of art. I'm so obsessed with this cover I now know a Drake song off by heart which is a bit embarrassing...

I'm sorry for unleashing my inner fan girl but sometimes these things can't be helped.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo Gel Cream Eyeshadow | Review

As usual I am absolutely skint. However, that's no excuse to miss out on a new season of makeup, so I decided to browse the high street for a cheap fix. Of course I marched straight into Superdrug (student discount anyone?). Since it's Autumn I felt I needed to to bring some warmth into my daily makeup routine, any shade of brown or burgundy has my vote and you can't go wrong with a smudge of glitter!

After seeing beauty bloggers rave reviewing Maybelline's Colour Tattoo Gel Cream Eyeshadow, I simply had to try it out. I'm not overly adventurous with make up so I plumped for the shimmery On and On Bronze, £4.99 - Bargain! I absolutely love this product already because the pigment can be applied lightly to give a delicate, natural glow yet is strong enough to be built up for a night out. A natural bronze eye suits absolutely all skin tones and hair colours and is perfect for a cosy yet glamorous look. It's also so easy to apply, I don't use a brush as I find it smooths on easily by finger. It claims to last for 24 hours. but that's a little longer than I care to wear make up for, so I can only report back that it stays put and crease free for a good 12 hours. I definitely recommend this product if you're searching for budget beauty this season.

Bargain Beauty Essentials

As a student, my part time job only just stretches to covering the cost of learning to drive. The change is split between savings, food, clothes and makeup which means I have to buy everything on a budget. I find the high street caters to my every need and drugstores offer a wide selection of affordable, great quality makeup. I stick to a £10 maximum budget per item, but my favourites all come in under £7. Here are my bargain essentials!

Freederm Perfecting Moisturiser - £6.49

Over the years I've tried and disliked many moisturisers from No7 to Clinique and noticed that more expensive brands don't do a much better job than cheaper alternatives, so you don't need to waste money there. I found the Freederm Perfecting Moisturiser when I was looking for a face wash and was surprised as I'd previously only used 'makeup brand' moisturiser so never considered choosing one from a skincare brand. On reflection this seems idiotic, of course skin care experts will be better at helping your skin! At £6.49 this is one of the cheapest moisturisers i've purchased, but the best by a long chalk! It's oil free and claims to reduce spots, perfect for breakout prone skin like mine. I've been using this twice daily for months now and I still haven't run out so you really get your moneys worth. Although I've been doing lots of other things to help my skin, I've definitely noticed an improvement since using this product. It also helps makeup to sit better as without the oil, it doesn't slip right off your face by lunch time!

Vaseline Lip Therapy - £2.18

Forget all these new age 10 in 1 miracle lip treatments splattered all over the beauty counter, you can't go wrong with a trusty old tin of Vaseline. I apply this to my lips every night to stop them becoming dehydrated and to soothe any chapping. It's quite slippery so it's not the sort of thing you'd use under a lipstick but it does its job and keeps your lips lovely and kissable. I have the Rosy Lips version (the pink tin) which works great as a subtle tinted lipgloss and the Aloe Vera (green tin) which has better healing properties and smells really fresh. Other uses for this classic product include moisturising dry, bitten nails and (according to Georgia Nicholson) strengthening and lengthening your eyelashes!

Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick - £1.99

I'd always been dubious of the Boots own brand Natural Collection, associating it with the sort of makeup experimental pre teens use. However, when I saw these lipsticks I couldn't resist - you can't go wrong for £1.99! There is actually an incredible selection of wearable shades for a value brand, mostly pretty pinks and nude tones. I picked up Rosebud, a natural medium pink with plum undertones and Raspberry, three shades darker pink with red undertones. I find the shades to be aptly named and well describe the colour. My only criticism is that these lipsticks only last a couple of hours before you need to reapply, but for £1.99 that's not a lot of bother and they fade equally rather than leaving the evil ring of doom around the edge of your lips so you don't look ridiculous.

Rimmel London Clear Complexion Clarifying Powder - £3.99

Welcome to the new and improved version of every girl's go to finishing powder, the Rimmel Stay Matte. I'd used that product for pretty much my entire makeup wearing life so to discover an updated mineral version designed to minimise outbreaks caused a very uncool mini jump for joy in the middle of Superdrug. This powder hands down the best in the business for reducing shine and helping your foundation to last longer. It promises "a shine free finish for up to 5 hours" which is true for my oily t zone, although it lasts even longer on the rest of my face and a quick touch up is no problem. I use the shade 021 Transparent which is good for all skin tones and doesn't counteract your foundation. Even the big beauty gurus love this one alongside their luxury brands, a unanimous 10/10!

Maybelline 24 Hour Colour Tattoo - £4.99

I've raved about these many times before so for full details see my main review. I love cream eyeshadows as they're much easier to use and this product is an absolute bargain for its amazing quality and durability. My favourite shade is On and On Bronze for a summery smokey eye but I love Pink Gold for a feminine touch and Timeless Black doubles up well as a gel eyeliner.

L'Oreal Superliner Perfect Slim - £6.99

This is my holy grail eyeliner, I have no idea how I survived the business of 'putting stuff on your face to make you pretty' before. If you like a bold, statement eye, this is the product for you. I've always found liquid eyeliner impossible to use, it's very wet and runny and just ends up printing a big mess on my lids. The Superliner has a much better formulation in the style of a felt tip pen, it's so easy to apply and the narrow tip makes cat flicks a breeze. I use the version Intense Black for an even stronger look. It will not budge or smudge all day, especially when combined with an eye primer and setting powder, yet washes off without any scrubbing needed. Dramatic eyes have never been so easy to achieve.

Simple Kind To Eyes Eye Makeup Corrector Pen - £4.99

For all you winged eyeliner fans out there, this is an absolute breakthrough product. A tiny smudge in your otherwise perfect wing requires some specialist handling; a cotton bud smudges, wipes are too big, back in the day this often meant having to redo the entire eye - sigh. Not any more, Simple have developed this Eye Makeup Corrector Pen which is the lovechild of a felt tip and an eraser. The narrow tip allows for easy removal of mistakes and smudges, also great for mascara prints when you open your eyes before it dries. As stated on the packaging, it is essential that you clean the tip after every single use or you'll just be adding to the mess, the easiest way I've found is with a flannel. This is such a useful product to keep in your handbag to neaten up your makeup throughout the day and the kind to skin formula ensures it doesn't irritate the delicate skin around your eyes.

So those are my bargain beauty essentials, they don't break the bank yet they're all amazing products and I'd favour them over designer brands any day. I'm also preparing an opposite post about beauty products that aren't worth their price tag so keep a look out for that. Do tell me in the comments if you have a cheap but very cheerful product I should try.

Leather Jackets

Autumn/Winter 2013 and leather jackets are again a massively hot trend. Not only do they keep you snug and dry in the predictably rubbish British weather, they also compliment almost any outfit to make a statement. I've waited all Summer for it to be cold enough to wear mine again and my love for it is back and stronger than ever! If you haven't invested in one yet, you're really missing out so here are my top three from the high street.

                           3. New Look, £39.99                     Black (Black) Black Leather-Look Panel Waterfall Jacket | 269246501 | New Look
Flat chested ladies, this is the jacket for you! The main feature of this New Look jacket is the waterfall on the front panel (as you'd probably already noticed). The ruffles trick the eye and give the appearance of a fuller, more feminine figure, yay! Furthermore, they give it a much more interesting style which would really bring out the elegance of a simple outfit. It's also available in a creamy beige colour but I think traditional black is the way to go if you're looking for effortless glam.

Okay so I'm a little biased towards this gorgeous jacket because it's the one I own. Nonetheless, I chose it for a reason didn't I? I love how it's figure hugging which is very flattering when worn with a thinner top underneath. The fur collar also stands out to me as I find it a lot more glamorous than the black fur collars which can look a bit tacky in my opinion. As for the price, £58 in Topshop is an absolute bargain, I've seen t shirts on sale for more than that! Unfortunately this has now been removed from the website due to being sold out so I linked you to it on eBay instead.

River Island Floral Hand Painted Leather Jacket - Lyst

I think i'm in love. The intricacy of this HAND PAINTED jacket is absolutely incredible and so unique! The design is so girly and autumnal, so so perfect for this season. Admittedly, the price is quite extortionate but if you splash out on one thing this year, let it be this timeless piece

So those are my top three high street leather jackets. I tried to find a range of prices to suit everyone but as these are so versatile and hard wearing, I definitely think they're worth their price tags.

Twenty One

Recently i've seen the '21 facts about me' tag floating around the blogosphere a lot and i'll probably join in on this at a later date. However, for now, I thought sharing my twenty one all time favourite songs with you would tell you enough about me. It took a lot of intense trawling through my iTunes library but after much deliberation I finally managed to narrow it down. *Dermot O'Leary voice* In no particular order, here are the winners!

I definitely think I have a song for every mood here; some I can sing my heart out to whilst dancing around home alone, some I can listen to peacefully when I can't sleep and every situation in between! They also span over a few decades from 1982-2013 which is interesting. Comment below if you share any of my favourite songs. :)

Photograph Your Day

I've seen a few bloggers lately doing the Photograph Your Day tag so I thought I'd have a go myself. I'll admit now it's not an exciting or unusual day by any stretch of the imagination but here's an insight into a typical day in my life.

So that's it for my day, I'm aiming to do another post like this while i'm on holiday so hopefully it''ll be a little more interesting!

Song Of The Month | September

This month i'm massively into Alt-J. Until recently I only really knew one or two songs but after stumbling upon their debut album An Awesome Wave, i've realised their utter brilliance. Alt-J are one of the few bands whose instrumentals are as beautiful, if not better than the vocals. The album has the perfect mixture of upbeat, catchy songs and more mellow, peaceful songs. After much debate, I think I can say that Taro is my favourite track. I seem to listen to it anywhere up to ten times a day because I can't get enough of the Indian style instrumental, it just makes me want to take up bollywood dancing or skip joyfully through the centre of town! Enjoy!

September Favourites

So it seems like Summer was a million years ago now we're settled snugly into Autumn, but before the Winter blues arrive there's time to squeeze in a few over sized jumpers, crunchy leaves and cinnamon lattes! As much as I've enjoyed lazing in the sun for the last couple of months, Autumn is my absolute favourite time of year. With 89 days left until Christmas, the festive spirit is already growing inside of me and i'm ticking off the days so are the products i'm stocking up on this September. (I apologise again for the poor quality of the photographs, i'm working towards a better camera.)

Salted Caramel Yankee Candle
This thing smells so delicious, words can't give it enough credit. Without even being lit is fills my entire house with a warm, winter smell of home baking.

Dorothy Perkins Rose Stitch Jumper
Every girl needs a thick knit winter jumper and I believe i've found the perfect one. My rubbish camera doesn't do the colour justice, it's more of a soft, musty pink whereas this photo kind of makes it look beige! I style it with absolutely anything and it fits comfortably under a jacket, perfect for these crisp mornings.

Golden Snitch Necklace Watch
Definitely an unusual choice for a favourites post, but i'm head over heels in love this quirky Harry Potter inspired necklace watch I bought on Etsy. Gold necklaces are huge this season but i find the chunky chains a bit too much for my taste so this interesting piece is a winner for me.

L'Oréal Paris Addictive Plum Nail Varnish
Autumn is all about rustic red tones and this gorgeous polish is the exact same shade as the falling leaves of a tree in my garden. Red nail varnish will bring extra warmth and sophistication to any outfit and helps to lighten up the early nights.

Gingerbread Latte
There's nothing like a good coffee to keep you toasty now the weather's turning and my favourite winter drink has to be a gingerbread latte. The only way to describe it is the taste of Christmas! Although they can be sickly in larger sizes so stick to a small treat for a blissful boost.

Cranberry Vans
Another beautiful autumnal colour, I received these for my birthday at the very end of August and have worn them most days since! I'm a huge vans fan as they go with literally every outfit and the soles make them supportive and comfortable. The colour really livens up a plain outfit so you can enjoy a leaf crunching walk in style.

Lancôme Paris Trésor In Love Perfume
My final favourite for this month (I know I did too many, sorry) is  Trésor In Love perfume from Lancôme Paris. The scent is really feminine and floral, as is the really pretty bottle. I find it carries one last waft of Summer through to the colder months to remind me that one day I will actually be able to feel my toes again!
So those were my favourite products this September and i'm looking forward to more cosy essentials in November!

Song Of The Month | August

This month I have two songs which equally have the most number of plays, coincidentally they're both by the same band. I have no idea what's got me back into them as I haven't suddenly developed an emotional connection with the lyrics or anything but this month's most played songs are retro numbers from when i first got iTunes back in 2007.

I'd forgotten about them for quite a while but I've now rediscovered my love for The Pigeon Detectives. In my humble opinion, their best songs are Take Her Back and  I Found Out from their first album, Wait For Me. I don't really have a reason for loving them so much but they make me want to dance around my room like a lunatic which is generally a good rule to go by. The lyrics are a bit cheeky while the tune is just brilliantly catchy and lively so take a listen!

Imagine Dragons

Lately I am absolutely LOVING indie rock band Imagine Dragons, you may know them from their most popular song, Radioactive. I'd describe their style as the lovechild of Bastille and The Killers, powerfully rhymic with emotional undertones.

I first discovered them around the start of 2013, a few months after their debut album Night Visions was released but didn't properly listen to them until a couple of months ago.

Although their songs are extremely catchy and suit a variety of music tastes, I'd say you have to give them a few listens before you can get a proper feel of them. Trust me, once you've picked up the lyrics, they'll become permanent fixtures on your shower karaoke set list.

The first eleven tracks on Night Visions are the strongest in my opinion, although this could be because i'm rarely in the car for long enough to hear the later songs. My favourite track is definitely Bleeding Out because the pace and dynamics are really mixed up with steady verses interrupted by a chorus that invites you to sing your heart out.

If you're one to judge an album by it's cover (see what I did there?) then please don't be put off by their seemingly moody appearance, their songs are actually really lively and upbeat. Not to sound forceful but I insist you look them up right now.

Purple Shampoo For Blondes

I began having my naturally blonde hair highlighted after becoming bored of it's dull tone. Although I love the look when I first leave the salon, I find that after a few weeks, my new colour loses it's shine to a brassy, yellow blonde.

Recently, my hairdresser suggested I try out purple shampoo which is hugely popular this summer. I opted for a bottle of Sheer Blonde Colour Renew from John Frieda.

As you can see the shampoo is literally a vivid shade of alien slime purple. Don't be afraid to lather plenty up and let it soak in for a couple of minutes, it won't dye your hair purple, I promise. The theory is that the purple tones cancel out yellow tones as they are opposites on the colour wheel.

The product came in at a reasonable £4.99 which I think is well worth the money as I still have half a bottle left after a over month of using it three times per week (as recommended). I can honestly say I noticed the difference after only one wash! My hair not only is a much nicer shade of blonde, but also feels healthier and smoother... RESULT!

Song of The Month | July

Song of The Month is a new series i'm introducing to my blog. As you've probably guessed, i'll be sharing my most listened to song with you guys at the end of every month. Hopefully i'll be able to give you something new to listen to or remind you of an older song you used to love. My taste varies in style so there should be something interesting for everyone.

My most played song this month is by far Let Her Go by Passenger. It has such beautiful lyrics which you'll pick up within minutes and I don't know a single person who doesn't love it. In contrast to many other songs on Passenger's debut album All The Little Lights, it has a much softer and more emotional melody, so grab your tissues!

Summer Plans

With only one week left of collage, summer is temptingly close and my expectations are as high as ever; pool parties, day trips to the beach, BBQs, festivals, basking in the sunshine and going out every night.

I seem to have forgotten that year after year, i'm not actually in an American teen movie and instead spend six weeks alternating between sleeping, eating, and interneting.

Despite this, i'm determined to make this summer the best yet. In order to do this, i'm aiming to do something productive/interesting at least six days a week and post a lot more often. Realistic? Probably not. Worth a shot? Definitely.

This will be my first summer of having a job and therefore i'll be able to afford to do more in my spare time. I already have booked a camping trip with my boyfriend and a holiday with my family which i'm super excited for. I also have my seventeenth birthday in August which means I can finally start learning to drive! Less exciting is AS Level results day on August 15th which is cruelly close to the end of summer. This means the back of my mind will be overflowing with impatience and terror for the most part of the holidays.

Unfortunately all of that adds up to about two weeks worth of entertainment so if you have any amazing plans for the summer, comment below so I can pinch some inspiration!

Cute Bedroom Accessories

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/11554545/?claim=87ay4b7cg5v">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

Since moving house in Summer 2009, I've had to make the most of a teensy little box bedroom. This means it can be quite a challenge to decorate the space without it appearing too cluttered. However, I have acquired a few lovely pieces which I think add a more homely, personal touch to the room. They're a mixture of hand made gifts and shop bought items i've picked up on my travels. As i'm in the process of swapping beds, I haven't posted a photograph of my whole room as a temporary mattress bed kind of ruins the effect! Here are some of my favourite accessories anyway.

When I have my own house my dream is a cute, shabby chic bedroom, but for now i'm content with these little touches. I'm always on the hunt for pieces like these so if you have anything similar, i'd love to see some photos for inspiration!

Bastille - Bad Blood Album

So recently I was introduced to the amazing British band Bastille and became immediately obsessed with their refreshing mix of dramatic, yet soothing, electronic melodies. Shortly after, I purchased my own copy of their debut album, Bad Blood, for a reasonable £9. I think that alone goes to show how much I love them as I willingly spent money when I could have downloaded the album from YouTube for free (immoral and illegal, although often necessary due to surviving on a student budget).

Both lyrically and melodically, (is that even a word?) every song on the album is absolutely phenomenal. Despite having listened to the album fifty two million times(ish) I still cannot choose a favourite track! However, Flaws and Laura Palmer are particularly catchy, perfect for a private karaoke session! Also worth a mention is Oblivion, which I find soothing when i'm feeling a bit down.

Not to mention lead singer, Dan Smith, who has a mind blowing voice and is also insanely attractive. So, if you've been living under a rock for the last few years, I suggest you take a listen to Bastille as they are truly talented and a credit to the British music industry.

Yankee Candles

I've always been a lover of cute candles so you can imagine my delight when I discovered YANKEE CANDLES.

Last week on a shopping trip to Westfield in Derby, I stumbled across a gorgeous little shop, AROMA, which was dedicated to handmade, natural, fragrance gifts. Despite being a fairly small shop, it was absolutely filled, wall to wall, floor to ceiling, with rows of candles in quirky glass jars.

I found every scent imaginable, from 'Baby Powder' to 'Christmas Eve' and everything in between! After literally an hour of breathing in the beauty of every single candle, (much to the annoyance of my boyfriend who quickly became bored and concerned with looking "unmanly") I opted for a small jar of 'Summer Scoop'.

It cost me a rather pricey £8. 39 but it was well worth it as it smells absolutely DIVINE . The scent is a mixture of fruity ice cream flavours which i love as it lightens up this incredibly gloomy April weather with memories of summer. Although it boasts 8 hours burning time, I have found that by only burning it for less than an hour at a time, it has lasted much longer. I'll certainly be returning to try out some other gorgeous scents.

I definitely advise you all to explore the wonderful world of scented candles, believe me, you'll feel better for it.
