Summer Trends: Kimonos, Statement Trousers & Whites

This summer, the high street is splattered with festival vibes and 90's inspired pieces. My three favourite trends are statement trousers, whites and kimonos. I've collected my top pieces from each trend to make updating your wardrobe this season extra easy.

1. Statement Trousers
Statement trousers are a pretty bold trend to step out onto the high street recently, but the casual fit of so called 'pj pant' styles mean you can throw on a pair with a plain top and a few bangles and look like you've made a lot more effort than you have. Elasticated waistbands and ankles are great for flattering every figure and they're much comfier than jeans!

 2. White
This trend is perfect for enhancing your skin tone and giving you a much more tanned appearance, great for anyone who, like me, can use snow as camouflage. White also reflects heat so you'll be much cooler than in dark colours, an easy way to achieve a pretty, summery look.

3. Kimonos
Kimonos have absolutely exploded into fashion this year, making an appearance in every catwalk show and high street shop. Perfect for festivals and boho styles, they'll keep you cool and stop you burning during the day then help to keep off the chill in the cooler evenings. Kimonos are super easy to style and make your wardrobe more interesting.

So those are my top summer fashion picks, what are yours and how do you style them?

June Playlist

Summer is finally here which means long drives with the roof down on a lazy sunny evening - who am I kidding I don't even have a car. I've been making the most of my freedom from A Levels by sitting around at home watching a lot of TV, wild I know. One good thing has come from this though as I have rediscovered the magnificence of themetunes, as you can tell from most of this month's choices. I got through both series of Orange Is The New Black and it's brilliant so I definitely recommend checking it out if you haven't yet. You'll probably also recognise track 4 as The Inbetweeners themetune which is a great song in itself. Anyway, here's my top ten June tunes.

3. You've Got Time - Regina Spektor
4. Gone Up In Flames - Morning Runner
5. Breakfast At Tiffany's - Deep Blue Something
6. I'm On My Way - The Proclaimers (check out the video for this, the 'retro' special effects are hilarious)
7. Disco 2000 - Pulp
8. Fever - The Black Keys
9. Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams
10. Best Friend - Foster the People

Thanks for taking the time to have a listen to this slightly odd mix of songs, let me know in the comments what your top Summer tunes are.

How To: Easy Homemade Iced Coffee

This may seem too simple to even need a tutorial style post but after posting an Instagram snap of my homemade iced coffee, a few people asked how I made it. For anyone who is yet to attempt this delicious summer drink, here's how I like mine.

1) Use two teaspoons of instant coffee granules (the Douwe Egberts chocolate infusion makes for a sweeter, mocha style twist) to boil about a third of a cup of coffee. Add sugar to taste, or sweetener for a guilt free treat.

2) Leave the coffee to cool to room temperature and place in the fridge.

3) Take your drink out of the fridge and fill with ice cubes, I usually use the whole tray of ten.

4) Top up the glass with semi skimmed milk and stir well.

This is my absolute favourite drink at the moment as it's been so hot here in the UK and I'm enjoying lazy sunny afternoons as I'm finally free from exams. Sorry if you expected something fancier from this post but as a few people did ask how I made this and it's so yummy I thought I'd share it with you, enjoy!
